The #hornetsfamily story started in 1973 with an advert appealing for ‘ladies wishing to play netball’. after 20 successful years playing in adult leagues, the junior club was formed in 1993 providing netball coaching to youngsters in hertford and ware. fast forward over 25 years later and hertford hornets netball club still prides itself on its heritage and ability to offer competitive, fun and progressive netball from players ranging from 7 to 70!

SENIORS……

In the summer of 1973 the following advert appeared in the Hertford area "Ladies wishing to play netball, come and join us at Millmead School." The advert had been placed by England international player and local resident, Anne Miles. Out of this innocent sounding request for local ladies, to play netball came training evenings at Millmead School followed by a small social gathering at the Millstream PH. From this inspiration by one local player, teams were formed and Hertford Hornets Netball Club was born during that summer. I was so proud to be one of the founder members and to be there to see the club go from strength to strength.

Hertford Hornets Netball Club are a competitive club, always striving to improve and achieve as highly as possible. However, we also want the blue and orange family to be a fun and welcoming netball club where your teammates are your friends both on and off the court.

The Seniors have three main playing pathways; ‘Performance’, ‘Development’ and ‘Social’ which allows us to offer as many people as possible the chance to find their place in the blue and orange family, playing at the standard they enjoy! If you want to play ‘Performance’ netball you have the option of playing in the National Premier League, East Regional League or Hertfordshire County League. These teams train either once or twice a week, follow dedicated strength and conditioning programmes and are lead by a team of experienced coaches. If you are looking to develop, you can build your skills in our ‘Development’ squad, playing in weekday leagues and receiving coach-led training once a week to help you improve. Finally if you want to play for fun, make friends and improve your fitness then we have two ‘Social’ teams who play in weekday leagues.
